VIDEO AND FILM
ANDREMEDES (2012)
My first short film, this is the first time I have gotten to put quality time into a film. This was zero budget, with a volunteer cast and crew. I had originally wanted to do an entire different story involving two brothers, but in the end one of the dropped out of the project, so we wrote a new script the night before we left and managed to pull together in the end.

THE BALL (2011)
This video was part of the 24-hour Video Race, meaning we had 24 hours, from writing, to filming, composing, editing, and all in only 24 hours. We got into the finals but did not win; however, we where referred to as the most technically solid film in our age group. I took a lot of insperation from "The Red Balloon", while thinking of this idea.

Theme: a day to remember
Line of dialouge: "We can do that tomorrow"
Prop: ball
Setting: Garden

I shot this film in about five minutes, literally as we where walking out of the buidling. I was testing my ability to shoot in low light, and my general camera abilities. The music performed in this was also composed by me in a way (By that I mean I came up with the chord progression, and my friend took it and made it sound professional).

We ran around in colorful boxes and caused mass confusion! Getting kicked out of every single store we entered, it was an awesome experience. This film was originally supposed to be a narrative, but turned into more of a social experiment, because we though that'd fit better. (We modeled the characters after Pac Man and the ghosts, haha!).

Key Lime (2012)
This is a video I did to test color correction and shots, it was really not inspired by anything other than my urge to film something (because I hadn't picked up a camera in two weeks, due to school and college applications).

BOAT (2012)
A short test animation with flash, done pretty quick actually, my animation skills are improving a bit recently. This was not inspired by anything in particular, I just really wanted to use those specific textures and dry, mossy colors.

Crab Test (Stop Motion animation test) (2011)
I was just testing my animation abilities, this is a short one, but it took about 10 hours all together, it's so tedious!

I hate Mirrors
(self portrait)
2012

This was a difficult piece for me, I hate looking at myself for long periods, and I'm not very good at proportions and observation, but i feel that after five or six hours I got as close as I could. It did open my eyes to how much I need to start drawing again, and it also helped me realize the importance of being able to draw in proportion (for designs and film work I'll need to be able to draw people/storyboard)

Warped
(still life)
2011

I was really into doing the "warped objects" awhile back, this was my most interesting one, specifically the roll of toilet paper (looks like it has a cape).

Towels and a Chair
(interior)
2012

I did a lot of watercolor, digital, and ebony, and pen with this piece, I think it really helped the drawing come out, and it also gave me a good insight into the mixing of watercolor and pencil which gives a very interesting texture.

Brick Layers
(landscape)
2011

At this point, I was doing a lot of observational drawing; however, I added a design twist to it. I picked this one because of the wide range of shading and design elements I liked, also the stippling and some weird line-work that somehow fit into this composition. I found it pretty unique, and at this point I had barely started drawing observational so you can see the progress compared to my other pieces above.

Things I don't like
2011
Pen

I love the small details that comics can give, I focused a lot on detailed pen work during this period of my artistic development. I still am very fidgety about my line-work.

Manifest Destiny
2011
Pen

A comic I made about the human pursuit of Manifest Destiny from a lizards point of view. This involved a lot of delicate line-work, however I completely improved the writing as I was drawing the panels.

Words
2011
Pen, and marker

I'm going to be honest, this is a class project, and I know most colleges don't like us to use them but I found this to be one of the most enjoyable piece I have ever done in a classroom setting (so much so I took it home every day for a few weeks to work on it). I really experimented with color, design, and detailed line work.
